HYDERABAD:
TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao had to wind up his New Delhi visit without
meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi as he
could not get their appointment.
According to party sources, Rao
waited till late in the evening for their appointment but as there was no
intimation from the PMO or Sonia Gandhi's office, he decided to return to
Hyderabad and make another attempt later.
It may be mentioned here
that a five-member TRS delegation led by KCR, had gone to New Delhi on Sunday
evening to appraise the prime minister, Sonia Gandhi and other national leaders
about the urgency to initiate measures to carve a separate state and also
explain how the realtors from Andhra region had been indulging in land grabbing
in Telangana.
However, Rao succeeded in meeting the President
Pratibha Patil and BJP leader LK Advani. Pratibha Patil advised Rao to call off
the proposed fast unto death to be launched at Siddipet in Medak district later
this month. The delegation explained her about the injustice meted to Telangana
people by the successive state governments for the last 50 years. During the
20-minute interaction with the president, TRS leaders explained about the
implementation of 610 GO, recent Supreme Court judgment making Hyderabad a free
zone and 1969 struggle for Telangana etc, according to party sources. She
assured them that she would draw the attention of the government towards the
issues raised by them.
During his meeting with Advani, Rao emphasised
on the need for all Telangana forces to fight unitedly for the cause of a
separate state. Rao claimed that Advani has assured his support to the movement
to be launched by him.
Later speaking to newsmen at New Delhi, KCR
said he would participate in dharna organised by TRS at Laxmi Nagar at
Papannapet mandal in Medak district on Tuesday in protest against the
encroachment of dalit lands by Andhra settlers and realtors. The dharna will be
continued till the government evacuates the encroachers from the village, he
said.

Hyderabad : After biting the
dust in the Lok Sabha elections, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS)
president K Chandrasekhara Rao went into oblivion only to emerge
threatening to chase away Andhraites who have settled in Telangana and
encroached lands that rightfully belong to people of Telangana. We
will stand by what we have said: Telangana wale jago, Andhra wale
bhago (Arise people of Telangana, Andhraites run away), KCR said on
Monday. He has proposed to undertake a fast unto death shortly for a
separate Telangana. This is my final step. Either you will see KCRs
funeral or his victory procession, he said.
However, after asking Andhraites to stay away, which ruffled many
feathers, KCR modified his statement. Actually Andhraites settled here
are facing anger of Telangana people due to a few land sharks,
industrialists and businessmen, who are fleecing local people and
minting money. It is because of a few people that Andhra settlers are
facing the brunt of Telangana anger. I must admit that if Telangana
agitators become upset and direct their anger at Andhraites
I wont be able to stop them, KCR said. His statements
initially drew the ire of other political leaders, but soon they
dismissed him as a rabble rouser.
Having left with no political base and with only two MPs,
including himself, and 10 MLAs, KCR is adopting various ways to seek
attention, including making statements against Andhra settlers. Now,
he has announced that he would soon start a fast unto death demanding
separation of Telangana. He has asked his aides to start preparing for
the fast and they are asking if KCR wants to fast what should they be
preparing for? asked a TRS MLA.

Gachibowli,
a major IT suburb of Hyderabad, situated about five km away from HITEC
City, is gaining prominence to become the most exciting business
address in India in the coming years.
As the latest Hyderabad business development, boasting
futuristic urban planning and located close to HITEC City and the new
international airport, many developers are tipping demand for real
estate in Gachibowli to eventually outstrip demand in Indias other
leading business developments, such as Gurgaon near New Delhi.
Already a number of major Indian and multi-national companies
have followed IT majors such as Microsoft, Wipro and Infosys with their
headquarters at Gachibowli, including UBS, Computer Associates,
Polaris, Kanbay, Infotec, Sierra Atlantic and now ICICI Bank.
A decade ago, Gachibowli was only a small village. Until now,
it was still only known as the home of the leading education
institutes, Hyderabad Central University and CMC Limited. It now boasts
of the Indian School of Business, partnered by Kellog & Wharton.
Things began to change for Gachibowli in the early 2000s. The
Afro-Asian Games of 2004 followed and put the district on the world
map. Today, the companies housed in the development directly employ
nearly 40,000 people, a number which is expected to rise to 1,50,000 in
the near future.
Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited
(APIIC), the local planning body, has been the key to Gachibowlis
remarkable growth. Using its Industrial Area Local Authority (IALA)
status, APIIC has
accelerated the file clearance process that encouraged companies to first set up shop in Gachibowli.
APIIC has also played an important role in assisting the state
government in its construction of the 162km long Jawaharlal Nehru outer
ring road, designed to link Hyderabads satellite townships and
decongest the main city. This major infrastructure project offers
speedy connectivity with the new international airport at Charminar
city and allows Gachibowli and Madhapur employees to commute from new
residential properties being built on the edges of the city.
The body has also undertaken extensive research to its urban
planning scheme and has sought to develop a holistic approach to the
construction of infrastructure projects and support services.
A financial district is planned with 140 acres being allotted
to attract national and international banks and other financial
institutions, including Bank of America, ICICI Bank, State Bank of
Hyderabad, ICAI, looking to run back-end financial operations out of
the new development.
Residential developers are also following the rush into
Gachibowli and properties ranging from low-cost apartments to
ultra-luxury villas have been constructed across the district. With the
growing demand, experts predict that approximately 120 lakh ft2 of
residential property will be built in the area over the next few years.
The potential for growth in Gachibowli is enormous. Currently,
there is a total built-up area of 8,000,000 ft2 , while construction on
another 8,200,000 ft2 will be finished soon.
ICICIs mega project spread over 42,00,000 ft2 and DLFs soon
to be completed 20,00,000 ft2 development are two of the locally funded
projects underway, while international property developers such as
Quinn Property of Ireland and Tishman Speyer of the US each are
developing 800,000 ft2 , making Gachibowli one of the most preferred
locations in the country for international developers too.
This one-time small village, growing rapidly, is set to be
mentioned in the future as one of the worlds premiere business and
living locations.

Last Moments From Voice Recorder Accessed By TOI Show No Panic
Saurabh Sinha | TNN
New
Delhi: Death came suddenly, without giving any notice to former Andhra
Pradesh chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. The transcripts of the
cockpit voice recorder (CVR), exclusively accessed by TOI, show there
was absolutely no panic inside the chopper in its final moments. The
then CM was relaxing moments before the Bell-430 helicopter carrying
him and four others hit the hills that rainy morning on September 2,
2009.
The pilots did
not exchange any alarming words to indicate disorientation in other
words, they did not at all realize the helicopter had veered away from
its designated path from Hyderabad to Chittoor. The chopper was flying
in blinding rain, and the pilots did not even see the hill in front of
it before it crashed into it at a high speed of 140 knots, or almost
259 kmph (1 knot = 1.85 kmph).
The YSR probe is the most intensive chopper crash probe ever being conducted in the country, and is
expected to be completed later this month. According to ATC reports, at
the time of crash, the helicopter had fuel for a maximum flight time of
2.45 hours. After taking off at 8.38am, it remained in contact for 35
minutes, up to 9.13am, with Hyderabad Radar at which time it was about
150 km from the Andhra capital. It was to change over to the Chennai Radar at 9.13 am. But at that point, it lost contact.
The
independent panel probing YSRs crash had first sent the solid state
CVR to the manufacturer, Bell, in US. Data from the electronic control
units that control tanking and airflow was also studied. For this
analysis, a Bell team came to India. Then last month, another team
of probe officials was sent to the American National Transport Safety
Board to get the entire data analyzed and get more information. This
team will return by Tuesday.
The probe panel is finding out
the numbing final details of the state-owned chopper (VT-APG) that was
under the command of the highly experienced Captain S K Bhatia along
with co-pilot M S Reddy. Bhatia, with a flying experience of over 5,600
hours, was endorsed with the type Bell 430 in June 2007. Reddy, who had
3,200 hours of flying experience, was endorsed to fly this type of
chopper this January.
The CVR may have had some general
conversation between the pilots but possibly the CMs presence and the
fact that he was relaxing, meant that the silence inside the cabin was
not unnecessarily broken. This silence was only shattered by
the sudden deafening sound of the chopper crashing into a hill,
silencing all on board forever. The debris was found way off
the assigned path as the chopper lost its way without anyone realizing
this, and the debris was found over 24 hours after the crash.
Out Of The Blue
Pilots did not exchange any words to indicate disorientation They did not realize the helicopter had veered off its designated path YSR was apparently relaxing, most of the journey was conducted in silence. Flying in blinding rain, the pilots did not even see the hill in front before the chopper crashed into it at high speed.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and
Home Minister P Chidambaram will visit flood-hit Andhra Pradesh and
Karnataka on Monday and Tuesday to assess the havoc wreaked by heavy
rains there and meet the affected people.
"Sonia Gandhi will undertake an aerial survey of the worst-affected
districts of Kurnool and Mahboobnagar in Andhra Pradesh for a spot
assessment of the death and destruction caused by heavy rains and flood
waters," a party spokesperson told IANS Sunday.
She will also visit Bellary, one of the 10 worst flood-hit districts
in north Karnataka, to assess the damage and meet the affected people.
Chidambaram will accompany her during the trip to both states.
Gandhi had contested the Lok Sabha election from the Bellary
constituency in 1999 but vacated the seat to retain the Rae Bareli seat
from Uttar Pradesh.
"Sonia Gandhi will land on Jindal airstrip at Tornagallu (about 30
km from Bellary) on Monday morning. State officials and party leaders
will brief her on the situation in the flood-hit district," Congress
legislative council member KC Kondaiah said.
Manmohan Singh is scheduled to visit both the states on Tuesday for
a first-hand account of the damage in the flood-hit districts.
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa appealed to Manmohan Singh
to declare the worst floods in the state since 1972 as a 'national
calamity' and release Rs 10,000 crore from the National Calamity
Contingency Fund (NNC) to rehabilitate the affected people.
Heavy rains due to depression in the Bay of Bengal and low pressure
from the Arabian Sea from Sep 29 to Oct 2 have caused flash floods in
north Karnataka and the Rayalaseema region of Andhra Pradesh, leaving
about 200 people dead and a million homeless.
Discharge of waters from three dams across the major rivers Krishna
and Tungabhadra in Karnataka inundated several villages and towns
across the region in the neighbouring states.
"The exceptionally heavy rains due to cyclonic conditions caused
extensive loss and damage in 12 districts, affecting about 17.8 million
people. Agricultural crops in these districts are completely destroyed.
Road network and power installation are also badly damaged,"
Yeddyurappa told the prime minister in a letter.
The state government has estimated the loss of crops and damage to public/private property at about Rs 20,000 crore.
"Relief and reconstruction operations need to be taken up on a
massive scale considering the magnitude of the tragedy," the letter
mentioned.
In a related development, the chief minister cancelled the leave of
top officials in the affected districts for speed implementation of
rehab measures and in restoring normalcy.
"I have also directed the ministers in-charge of the respective
districts to stay put and supervise the relief measures," Yeddyurappa
told reporters late on Sunday.
The chief minister, who undertook aerial survey of the affected
districts returned to Bangalore as he could not proceed to Koppal in
north Karnataka due to bad weather.
An all-party meeting, scheduled for Monday to discuss the flood
situation, was postponed after opposition leaders told the state
government that they would not be able to reach Bangalore due to damage
to roads and cancellation of trains from the affected areas.
