A book on the history of Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA), written
by former player and cricket administrator PR Man Singh, was released
by Andhra Pradesh assembly speaker KR Suresh Reddy.
"Cricket
Biryani" of Man Singh, who was the manager of the Indian team that won
the 1983 World Cup, is a comprehensive account of the history of HCA.
Speaking
on the occasion, G Vinod, president of HCA and the state minister for
labour, described Man Singh as a gentleman dedicated to cricket.
The book captured the essence of Hyderabad Cricket since its inception in the 1930s, he said.
Reddy said the book, portions of which were earlier read out, illustrated the effort that went into its writing.
The
book would not only be a treasured item for libraries and cricket
lovers but a source of inspiration for youngsters, he said.
Man
Singh briefly narrated the making of the book and how some of the
former Hyderabad cricketers who have settled in countries like
Australia and Pakistan were profiled.
