Aliuddin Ahmed, Deen
Yar Jung, was born on 26 September, 1893 at Hyderabad. He worked
in various districts of the Nizam's Dominion in the Revenue
Department as Deputy Collector and later as Collector.He also
served as the Director of Ecclesiastical Department for a number
of years.
On 6 June, 1944 Nawab Deen Yar Jung took over as Commissioner of
Police. He was the Director General of Police during a critical
period of Hyderabad's history i.e. before and after Police
Action in 1948 and retired on 11 March, 1953. For his valuable
services to the State he was awarded Asafia gold medal on 11
May, 1948 and the title of Deen Yar Jung.

Syed Ali Bilgrami was
born in 1851. He was a distinguished scholar and a linguist. His
ancestors came from Mesopotamia, situated between Baghdad and
Basra. He served the Nizam's Government in various capacities:
Director of Public Instruction, Home Secretary, Inspector
General of Mines and Secretary, Public Works Department. He was
also a great author and among his books which may be mentioned
are "Monograph on the Book of Kalila and Dama", "Relative merits
of the study of Persian and Sanskrit". He translated Atharva
Veda.
In 1891, the Government of India gave him the title "Shams-ul-Ulama"
which literally means "Light of the Learning".

Imad-ul-Mulk was born
in 1842 at Sahibgunj in Gaya district. In 1873, Imad-ul-Mulk
came to Hyderabad and he was appointed as the Private Secretary
to Nawab Salar Jung. In 1884, Syed Hussain was honoured with the
title "Ali Yar Khan Motamin Jung" with a mansab of 200 zat and
500 horses and a flag. The work of Nawab Imad-ul-Mulk as an
educationist was his greatest contribution to Hyderabad. In
1878, he founded the Madrasa-i-Aizza, and during the following
year he founded the Hyderabad College.In 1911, when Salar Jung
III became the Prime Minister of the State, Imad-ul-Mulk was
appointed as his advisor. In 1926, he received the honorary
degree of Doctor of Laws at the Osmania University's first
convocation. He died on 3rd June, 1926.

Nawab Saif Nawaz Jung (Sultan Saleh bin Ghalib
Alagaty) was a great scholar and knew English,
Arabic, Persian and Urdu. He used to reside in palace known as "Saif
Gulshan" which still exists in Asifnagar. His library was well
known in Hyderabad. He was interested in architecture and
education at Hyderabad. He patronised various societies and
educational institutions in the city. Saif Nawaz Jung left India
in 1944 to settle down in Mokalla (Arabia) where his family
originally belonged to.

Nawab Zain Yar Jung
Bahadur (Zainuddin Hussain Khan), was born at Hyderabad on 15 January, 1889. He did his
higher studies in England and was appointed as the Executive
Engineer in charge of the Royal Palaces Division. In 1930 the
Government of Hyderabad commissioned him to design the Osmania
University under the guidance of the famous Belgian architect
Jasper. Besides Osmania University he designed and built many
beautiful mosques, temples and gurdwaras.
In 1939 he was appointed as the Chief Architect of the State. In
1944 he was appointed as the Minister for Public Works &
Commerce & Industries. In 1947 he became Nizam's Agent General
in Delhi.
For his valuable services as an architect he was awarded Padma
Bhushan on 6th October, 1956.
